On Saturday, July 18, 2026, the famous night returns.
The Feast of the Redeemer is one of the most cherished celebrations for Venetians, combining religious devotion with spectacular displays. On Saturday night, fireworks attract thousands of visitors: lights and reflections on the unique stage of the San Marco Basin create a kaleidoscope of colors against the city’s spires, domes, and bell towers.
It is also an occasion to remember the end of the terrible plague that struck Venice between 1575 and 1577. The Redeemer’s night, famously called the “famous night” by locals, is an integral part of Venetian culture. Residents continue to keep alive the culinary traditions, folklore, and festivities handed down by their ancestors, making this celebration both authentically Venetian and internationally renowned. Over the years, it has become one of the city’s biggest tourist attractions.
